I Made the Best Meatloaf Last Night!

March 22, 2011 Uncategorized 12 Comments

There was actually so contention about who was going to get the last piece.  I left the room and let E and 15 work it out.

I hope everybody is doing well.  I see that a lot of you are going through some major stuff.  This is a group hug I am passing on here.

No words of wisdom this morning though.  I wish I did have some.

New season started taping last week.  These won’t air until September though.  Lots of newness going on.  Change is always a destabilizing thing.  But if you work it right newness can lead to goodness.

We already caught a couple that was trying to “Double Dip”  That means they were on another court show about the same issue and now tried to re-frame it and come on ours.  They got bounced.

Well, that’s all I have.  Still trying to figure out my blog quantity and quality issues.  Can’t quite seem to get a handle on what I should be doing and how well I can do it.

But we’ll see.

You guys have a great day.

Back to Work

Hello Everybody,

I finally got back to work this week.  This is what I learned:

1.  It is great to have a job you are anxious to get back to.

2. It is hard to shift the nature of your relationship with others especially if you have gone through a profound change in a short period of time and they weren’t around to see it.

3. If you can’t fix what is, you have to change the way you look at it.  Example: Airports are not designed for waiting nor are delayed flights created to produce frustration.  These things are the Pause Buttons everybody is looking for in their lives that will give them the opportunity to feed those needs that get neglected in the rush of everyday life.  All of those books I complain about never having the time to read will be devoured there.

4.  You ought  not rush your mother off the phone because you have ‘so much to do.’  One day she might  get tired of it and give you an earful.  Trust me, that kind of dressing down is no more fun at 51 than it was at 15.

5.  Control, my drug of chose, though often the source of great anxiety, is also a cure for that very same irritant if used correctly.

6.  You can stand down fear if you Give it Voice.  I did that twice this week.  I was about to engage in two separate, but equally ridiculous, habits that have no purpose other than to soothe my anxiety.  So I said out loud “That is a Fear Move” and then I didn’t do it.  That’s two more speed bumps in my Highway to Better that have been removed from the road.

7. I don’t care what you do it is hard to sleep the first night when you are away from home.

8.  It pays to proof read.  And even then some dumb stuff usually gets through.

9. Husbands get more handsome once you’ve been away from them for a while.

10.  Vigilance is they key to correcting bad habits. I have got my crosshairs on Unnecessary Rushing and though I know there is no ‘kill shot’ I can, over time, put enough holes in it to eventually bring it down.

Well, that’s that.

Hope everyone whose having a rough time finds some peace this week.  If the world won’t give it to you shut the door on it, take five minutes and create some of your own.

Here’s wishing you more of it . . .

PEACE.

Where's Waldo?

I know I have been AWOL of late.  Nothing bad just lots of dumb stuff:

Son home from college with (it seems) half the freshman population of the school in tow.  To tell you the truth my son’s friends are the most respectful bright group guys that I have seen in some time.  Mad props to 18.  He has surrounded himself with a great group.  Anyway they still eat a lot and make and . . . well you know the drill.

15 on restriction – yet again – 12 a.m. curfew.  3 a.m. arrival.  Need I say more.  He can’t leave the house so we’ve been boarded  the extra attitude meets more chores train. It’s been time consuming.

Back at work.  LOTS of changes this year.  Mad new prep. New production staff new ideas It’s almost like a new show launch. Out of town all of that.

Duchess’ mom not doing well.  She been traveling care taking (which I monitor – she’s got to stay healthy herself) and we’ve all been worrying.

Had a couple of writing deadlines that I had to meet and DID!

There’s more but it’s mundane.  Nasty cold all around.  15 brings it home.  Sick for 4 days.  E and I have been fighting it two weeks.

Did get to drop by last night to see more comments.  Arnell, you know you are in my thoughts and prayers.  You have a lot going on around you.  Hang in there.

I am riveted by the news out of Japan and the grace of their response in the face of a disaster trifecta – God bless those people!

Any how, that’s about it.

All of you out there who are having it rough.  Like I said my prayers are with you.  Carve out a piece of joy for yourself no matter how small.  If you get your mind right it won’t make you feel better but it might take the edge off just when you need it the most.

PEACE.

I used this picture because it generated so many comments on Facebook.  I was surprised by that. Moreover, I could not find the question mark I typically use . . .

What’s on your minds?

Back at it

March 8, 2011 Uncategorized 22 Comments

Well, I am getting ready to go back at it. Starting next week I will be doing the LA thing taping shows.  Excited to get back to work.  I am so fortunate to enjoy what I do so much.  A creative and interesting gig that I am so happy to have.

That bears saying every once in a while.  Keeps me on point.

This is going to be my look for the next few weeks because I am trying to grow my hair out and I can’t do anything with it.

I played tennis for the first time in almost three weeks today.  I had forgotten, not only how much I enjoyed it, but how relaxing it was.  My coach and I were talking about how nice it is to have this one thing we do that relies totally on us and has objective standards.  You know, either the ball is in or it isn’t.  Either it made it over the net or it didn’t.

When I watch the ball all of the way into the racket I hit a better shot.  That is all up to me.  Either I played well that day or I didn’t and there is no guessing.

I like that.  You don’t get that kind of clean stuff a lot, you know?  Things that rely just on you and not a whole lot of other people.  No subjective opinions about what you have produced.  Just a good outcome for a good days work.  If you get beat you get beat because the other guy played better.  No third parties involved.  CLEAN.

I did play okay by the way.  Pain free is a helpful state of being.  The three weeks off gave me a chance to heal.  (I had the ridiculous nerve pinch thing going on)  It had been going on so long it seemed normal. I just thought I was moving slower and not as well – but, as it turns out, I was hurting.

I was all over the court today, chasing that ball like I was a Labrador Retriever.

Boomy is trying to kill a sister too.  Nothing outrageous.  Just walking me into a slow crazy with a lot of Knicky-Knack behavior.  This too, I suppose, shall pass.

But in the mean time in between time: Back to work!!  Color me happy!  I am a lucky woman.

Peace.
